Ringed Plovers ringed at Snettisham in East Anglia
have been recovered at numerous locations in Britain, Ireland and France, mostly
outside the breeding season during the winter period. The two recoveries in
Holland were of the same bird where it was known to be breeding. It was
originally ringed as a chick at Snettisham and obviously relocated.
The recovery at Rost Island , Norway on 24
June 2001 was a bird ringed on 10 March 1996 at Snettisham. Most likely
this bird was on passage to Norway and is not part of the breeding
population.
Most of these recoveries are the result of
an extensive colour ringing project.
